6.How to get off a blacklist?

If your website is infected with malware, some internet security companies can put warnings on your site and in search results, letting everyone know that your site contains malicious code. As anyone can imagine, this can really damage a site’s reputation.

If this has happened to you and your site is in this situation, we’re here to help.

In our regular clean up plans, we offer not only malware clean up but also website blacklist removal, meaning that we will contact these blacklisting companies letting them know that your site was cleaned and that the warning can be removed. Once the search engine has reviewed the request, warnings presented on your website and in search results should disappear.

When giving our reports on malware and blacklist, we check the 10 main blacklists out there:

  • Google Safe Browsing
  • Norton Safe Web
  • Phish Tank
  • Opera
  • SiteAdvisor McAfee
  • Sucuri Malware Labs
  • SpamHaus DBL
  • Bitdefender
  • Yandex (via Sophos)
  • ESET

If you’re seeing a This site may be hacked message when you search for your site on Google, it doesn’t mean it’s blacklisted by their Safe Browsing program, it just means that Google found suspicious activity in your site and thinks it may have an issue. We will also request a review for this but it takes longer, up to a few weeks, for them to remove the warning.

Note that we only check the most reliable and popular blacklists. There are smaller blacklists that are more error prone and not used. You can use these services to check for additional blacklists:
